Located at the eastern gateway of Zhengyi Ancient Town, the Zhengyi Kunqu Town Visitor Center sits opposite the Opera Museum and serves as a new cultural landmark. The 232,000 SF complex integrates visitor services, community activities, public amenities, offices, and a multifunctional hall, balancing tourism and local use. Inspired by the "twin lotus" and the aesthetics of Kunqu Opera, the architecture adopts a restrained geometric language to evoke lotus imagery—featuring a floating "leaf" roof, skylight "blossoms," and a central "water droplet" atrium—forming a symbolic pair with the museum across the street. The design carefully responds to urban scale, landscape, and circulation, incorporating underground parking, a waterfront public plaza, and pedestrian-friendly connections. Inside, tree-like structural columns unify space and form, while natural materials and daylight enhance spatial experience. The project emphasizes sustainability through passive design strategies, optimized daylighting, and high-performance materials, creating an open, efficient, and community-oriented "living room" for the town.
