Located on a lakeside platform in Central Park, Huaqiao, Kunshan, Suzhou, the project transforms a neglected sunshade pavilion into a flexible, community-oriented space. Conceived as an operable "box," the building opens through sliding, folding, and lifting façades to engage the lake and park, and closes into a compact, quiet volume when not in use. Lightweight construction, modular systems, and translucent materials create layered "gray spaces" that blur indoor and outdoor boundaries while allowing adaptability over time. More than a café and flower shop, the project acts as a social node and urban living room, reactivating the site and fostering connections between people, nature, and everyday life.
