Designed as a vital infrastructure intervention for Huaqiao Bubble Planet Park, Mirror Grove Restroom addresses the urgent need for facilities while maintaining a deep reverence for the surrounding environment. Nestled adjacent to a serene Dawn Redwood forest and a seasonal lake, the design draws inspiration from the existing timber boardwalks that allow citizens to experience the changing natural landscape. To minimize the architectural footprint, the traditional restroom program is deconstructed into four small-scale volumes—comprising male, female, accessible/family facilities, and a management room—arranged in a cluster "hidden" within the trees. These volumes are unified by a timber platform that echoes the material language of the park's existing paths. The primary facade utilizes mirror-finish stainless steel, allowing the structures to visually dissolve into the forest by reflecting the verticality of the redwoods and the shifting light. Complementary natural wood accents at the entrances provide a warm, tactile transition for users. Through this strategic use of materiality and fragmentation, the building transcends its utilitarian purpose to become a nearly invisible extension of the natural scenery.
